Hans Küng (DEU)

is one of the most well known catholic theologians. He studied philosophy and theology in Rome, received his Ph.D. 1957 from the Institute Catholique in Paris and after some research fellowships in Amsterdam, Berlin, Madrid, London he was Professor for “Fundamentaltheologie” in Tübingen. He was a official consultant of the 2nd Vatican Concile between 1962 and 1965, called by John XXIII. Küng was visiting scholar at New York, Basel, Chicago, Michigan, Toronto, Houston, received several awards and altogether 13 doctoral honorates. Most relevant for our project are his efforts towards a Weltethos, a global ethic foundation which president he currently is. This foundation is a platform for intercultural and inter-religious discussion, education and encounter. Küng is also co-president of the World Conference on Religion and Peace.
