is Professor of Political Science at Lund University, where he received his Ph.D. in 1975. He has specialized on the field of International Politics and examines specifically international negotiations, diplomacy and the role of transnational networks in international cooperation. During his career he was visiting Professor at the Kyung Hee University in Seoul and at Stanford University in California, Member of the Committee on Transnational Activities of the International Studies Association, Member of the Swedish Council for Research in the Humanities and Social Sciences, Board member and vice chairman of the Swedish Institute of International Affairs, President of NISA (Nordic International Studies Association) and President of the Swedish Political Science Association. He was editor of Cooperation and Conflict and Member of the Editorial Board of International Studies Quarterly and still is co-editor of Global Governance. He published (Un)Ending Conflict: Challenges in Post-War Bargaining (1997) (with Karin Aggestam); Governance in the EU: Negotiations in Networks, And Now What? International Politics After the Cold War,Diplomatic Signaling in the Television Age, Negotiations in Networks in the European Union (Aarhus 1998) (with Bo Bjurulf, Ole Elgström, Anders Sannerstedt & Maria Strömvik); Compliance and Post-Agreement Bargaining together with Jonas Tallberg (1998);Diplomacy, Bargaining and Negotiation (2002); Organizing European Space (2000) and was editor of Cognitive Dynamics and International Politics(London/New York 1982).
