Manfred Brocker (DEU)

is Professor at the Department for Political Studies II of the Catholic University in Eichstätt-Ingolstadt and at the University of Politics in Munich. He is co-founder and was speaker of the workgroup „Politik und Religion“ of the German Association for Political Sciences (DVPW). He received his Ph.D. for political science from the University of Cologne. In his research he focusses on religious issues especially in their political dimension. He was co-editor of Friedensstiftende Religionen? Religion und die Deeskalation politischer Konflikte (Wiesbaden 2008); Der Begriff der Religion. Interdisziplinäre Perspektiven (Wiesbaden 2008); Unfriedliche Religionen? Das politische Gewalt- und Konfliktpotenzial von Religionen (Wiesbaden 2005); Säkularisierung und Resakralisierung in westlichen Gesellschaften: Ideengeschichte und theoretische Perspektiven (Wiesbaden 2001). He published Protest – Anpassung – Etablierung. Die Christliche Rechte im politischen System der USA, (Frankfurt a.M./New York 2004); Civil Religion, Fundamentalism, and the Politics and Policies of George W. Bush, (2004).
